Review of Wild Target (1993) by Eric R — 05 Apr 2011
Victor, an aging assassin, is hired to murder Rose, a woman who just stole 900,000 pounds from an art collector. Victor is known as being the best but when he goes to take care of Rose, he can't do it.
He ends up actually protecting her from other men who are trying to kill her which sets off a rather fun little comedy. Rose is a free spirit while Victor is very classical which makes for some fun. I don't really get why this film got such terrible reviews; sure its nothing exceptional but it has enough wit and charm to make it fun.
Bill Nighy is awesome as usual, and he really is entertaining as this hitman who for over half the film cant figure out why the hell he didn't just go through the hit. I do think its a bit interesting to have such an old man and young woman be the main love interests, but it didnt bother me or anything.
