Review of Wild Tales (2014) by Caleb C — 04 Mar 2015
I was gonna write something for this movie last night, but I was in somewhat of a shock after I watched it and also took breaks in between all the "segments" here. This film consists of 6 short live action films, some longer than others coming down to just over the 2 hours mark in total.
To give this film the title "Wild Tales" is entirely appropriate here as well. This was some crazy a$$ sh!# going on in this somewhat of a fairy tale for grown ups in the Tarantino age and at the same time, all these stories could be very plausible in the real world and could very likely happen if anyone was in the mood to do such mad psycho acts or react in ways these characters do.
It has a very strong start with it's first and shortest piece and really ends with a bang. There was certainly a reason this was a favorite at the academy awards and garnered it a "best foreign language film of the year" nominee.
That being said, this is without a doubt one of my new favorites from last year and it is a must-see for anyone who like any anthology film out there, and this could possibly be the best one of that genre.
No others come to mind as a better example.
