Review of Wild Style (1982) by Pan L — 21 Apr 2008
For years I've been familiar with certain samples used on Cypress Hill or Beastie Boys records, finally I got to the source. The plot of Wild Style is a minor thing, what really makes this film so important is capturing the new phenomenon, that is hip-hop culture, at early stage of its development.
The influence of this production on people involved with the movement is very difficult to overestimate, especially back in the days.
