Review of Wild Strawberries (2012) by Daniel H — 02 Oct 2007
A really good film. It's warmer than most of Bergman's other films, and manages to be quite moving without being sentimental. The female lead, Ingrid Thulin, is spellbindingly attractive, and the old man looking back on his life and dreams and meaning is a great , complex character.
As with all the Bergman films I've seen, there's a haunting, searing quality to the black and white images and atmosphere. Sticks in your soul, and demands to be seen again.
