Review of Wild Strawberries (2012) by Lee F — 24 May 2008
A Bergman classic, and a must-see, if only for professors like me so they can know what they may well turn into by the time they're 76. A car ride to receive an honor from the University of Lund becomes a journey back through the shattered fragments of a man's life.
Ingrid Thulin did her best work for Bergman in this character drama. Slow moving, which is not the same as boring; the scene between Isak and his mother is chilling. A good introduction to Bergman for those who know they should like him but have trouble accessing his work.
