I'll say this for Bergman. His movies are certainly interesting...though difficult to understand. You could actually call this one of the first road trip movies, though not in the sense of how you'd think of one of those today.
It's a fascinating look at the life of an old professor knocking on death's door as he revisits old memories along his trip to pick up an award. Still unsure of the meaning of the last scene, but based on folks I've talked to, it appears I'm not alone in that regard.
