Review of Wild Hogs (2007) by Lee-Ann P — 26 Nov 2009
John Travolta cant really act to begin with, unless the role is something he's completely familiar with, and if he respects the project. I really despise actors who are only half ass about roles, they know are not going to have a grand audience.
I mean I can understand holding back, if it's a straight to DVD, or your average horror movie, which most Hollywood actors wouldnt go near anyway. But if it shows in your role playing, your complete lack of interest and the fact that you've done minimal rehearsing, than it reflects onto the movie and everyone involved in making it, and it blatantly mocks the people who are choosing to watch.
Its almost as if they're thinking 'nobody important is going to see me in this anyhow, so I wont even bother getting into character'. Like 'this movie isnt worth my energy. I'm just here for the paycheck.
Even though Wild Hogs, here, is not a low budget film, it makes it that much worse, knowing that these high pais writers and actors could get away with such garble. Old yuppies trying to go biker has possibilities.
But this was not engaging in anyway. The dialogue was foolish, the comedy was almost Disney/after school special, yet would still insult the intelligence of a child. I do not want to see Walt Beckers next installment of over the hill Neanderthals attempting to accomplish such an impossible and unthinkable task which is .
..raising kids?? No thanks. The fact that Robin Williams is getting less and less good roles, which shows in the last few years, also may be an indicator of this movies low quality. But the simple Simon comedy crowd may pass time on it.
We'll have to see.
