Review of Wild Hogs (2007) by Paulo H — 05 Jul 2011
Wild Hogs is a 2007 comedy movie. It stars Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy.
Doug Madsen (Allen), Woody Stevens (Travolta), Bobby Davis (Lawrence) and Dudley Frank (Macy) are four middle aged men who are all best friends and have their own motorcycle gang, called the Wild Hogs. They are all sick of their boring live's, and decide to go on a road trip. The road trip starts of as just a bit of fun for the guys, to regain their freedom. But after they meet the leader of the Del Fuego gang, Jack (Ray Liotta) things begin to go worse.
This movie essentially relies on it's four big names to fire, Allen, Travolta, Lawrence and Macy are all quite funny and act well, but there's nothing special in there, and that's what this movie really needed. The plot is average, but it works for the movie and sets up plenty of different scenarios and bad things that happen.
The movie itself is quite funny, in some times it relies on slapstick comedy, but that's still funny. All of the four lead stars are equally funny, as they all get about the same amount of laughs. The sad thing about this movie is that it falls a bit flat in every aspect. The plot's flat, the acting's a bit flat, everything is really. The movie could've been so much better, which is disappointing.
Wild Hogs is an entertaining film, but it's definitely a let down. Everything is average, there's nothing special. This movie could've been so much better if it had something special.
6.5/10.
