Review of Wild Bill (2011) by David B — 23 Jul 2012
A really good British film, oh sure, this is the only sort of stuff we do, but if it's put together probably, like this, you get a good comedy drama. The cast is fantastic, with the main leads corsing through their roles as do the co-cast.
This is more drama than comedy, I suppose but when there are funny moments they are presented deadpanly and really natural. The film has heart to, making the characters feel really vulnerable. The acting is fantastic, as I have mentioned and the grittyness really adds to this slick film, the film doesn't feel cliche as you normally get in gangster films with the odd stereotypes but works really well.
The film also doesn't rely on voilence, though a few scenes are well executed. The script is well written but it's only flaw is a slight done-before storyline but everything else is floorless.
If you like a dumbed down gangster film, maybe like Layer Cake, then you'll love this. Not for everyone but still recommend.
