Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Anders J — 29 Feb 2008
I was really impressed with this Lynch offering, it is a film which lets the lead characters breathe, lynch allows the two lovers to fall in and out of weird situations which most of his characters do, but its just nice to see characters that you like and can almost relate to in these absurd scenarios, Derns real life mother Dianne Ladd also puts in an outstanding performance as her disollusioned mother in the film, alongside this you have a legendary performance from willem dafoe as a dark angel (the living epitomy of evil) which challenges hoppers character in blue velvet for the ultimate villain trophy.
All in all a road movie with heart soul and all the familiar strange dark clouds and flecks that you learn to expect from Lynch, everyone should see this to be immersed in a rich and utterly convincing fictional world.
