Review of Wild at Heart (1990) by Jaime D — 02 Dec 2010
Typically, although this isn't original Lynch material (its based on a novel) it does have his signature flashes of the strange... Witches on broomsticks, stump legged assassins and a man dressed like Santa in August who puts cockroaches up his arse to list a few moments of the bizarre.
.. yet despite these flashes of weirdness this is actually one of Lynches more linear and orthodox pieces of work. As such although its a more accessible view than say Inland Empire or the breathtaking Mulholland Drive it never reaches the artistic heights that Lynch reaches when he is truly off the leash.
The cast are all fantastic but Cage stands out in a career defining role.
