Review of Wild (2014) by Ian E — 02 Feb 2015
With 2014 and in particular December 2014 being a time for movie biopic, Wild is another one about a woman who goes on a three month hike from the Mexico border to the border of Canada. I wasn't sure what to think going in, but I really enjoyed this movie.
Reese Witherspoon puts it all out there, and I mean all of it. She plays a recovering drug/sex addict that never dealt with the loss of her mother in a healthy way. Of course hiking 1000 miles is a way to find yourself, and she certainly does in this movie.
Her story is nothing too new, but I love how this movie was shot and edited. The backfill scenes and the way they weave in and out of the present story is so cool. Witherspoon I believe have a great shot at winning the Oscar, although I think I might still give it to the Gone Girl.
Great movie to show the will and determination of the human spirit.
