Review of Wild (2014) by Brandon W — 10 Apr 2015
Wild is an amazing movie that is definitely a comeback for Reese Witherspoon. I'm glad that Jean-Marc Vallee is becoming more noticeable as a director after Dallas Buyers Club, and Wild proves that the director is not a one hit wonder.
Reese Witherspoon is excellent in this and I'm glad that she got nominated for an Oscar. Bruce Dern is also really great and it's nice to see her return to films. The story is really good, and it's nice to see that Nick Hornby respects the book, even though I had never read it.
The writing is really good, and it gives off some humorous moments that makes the movie more interesting. It's very moving, and almost all the people the main character met are not jerks or creepy people which I am glad about that.
Even though it doesn't answer some questions, it answered a lot of questions and some of it are into interpretation which in this case, I was all right with. I'm glad to see that hiking movies are done well nowadays and I felt like the hiking is not just for her character, but for Reese Witherspoon herself.
