Review of Wild (2014) by Kevin S — 27 Jun 2015
Vallée captures Witherspoon's performance well, but lacks enough cinematographic vision to incorporate the miles of outside world Strayed traverses. The plot begins promisingly, but understanding acceptance doesn't have the cathartic payout that would be as rewarding as watching all the people whom Strayed betrayed and hurt over the course of her life.
The film seemingly preaches, "Sure you messed with a lot of people's lives, but as long as you can live with it, everything will be okay.".
