Very few actors/actresses can carry a film when they're the sole focus, and script really isn't strong enough to lend much help to Witherspoon (her playing a college student at her age?). Flashbacks are equivalent to a TV movie, dialogue not much better. Awful product placement really jars you out of the movie (Thanks for not approving a better movie Snapple, REI, Miller) Reasons for Strayed walking the trail never really made clear and big 'revelation' at the end very blasÃÃ, (C).

Aside from a few good literary quotes, the only interesting thing you can say about the movie is that it's based on a true story.
