Review of Wild (2014) by John Eric D — 02 Jun 2015
From Dallas Buyers Club, Jean-Marc Vallee proves he can push his boundaries in terms of film making. He did a very tremendous job in this film. This time, it focused based on the life story of Cheryl Strayed.
A struggling woman, who escapades from all the depressions she's in. She lost her beloved mother, she just got divorced, became a drug addict and got involved from several men she slept with. It shows the in-depth of a character, the dark past that haunts her, and some flashbacks as she comes along to pass her journey in order to surpass the demons inside her.
This is one of those films where you feel the character more, you felt her devastation, till such time she can escape from all of this. I do like this film. It is dark, yet it also gave inspiration to all who suffers dark past and depressions.
Not for everyone, but if you like a dark drama that focuses on a certain character. This is a very good watch. Amazing performances by Reese Weatherspoon. She deserves a lot of credit. 4/5.
