The cast is great (Kaluuya really shines) and half of the script has the same popping dialogue as Flynn’s “Gone Girl”. Unfortunately, McQueen gets a little pretentious and/or silly with his half of the screenplay, as well as his direction, creating a film that drags before it picks up.
