Review of Why Him? (2016) by Shaun I — 23 Jan 2017
The storyline that has the power to catch every parent alive, the worry of having to let your child become independent and support every choice they make, including who they choose to love...
Unfortunately despite some reasonably funny moments this film just didn't gravitate to the ultimate "Meet The Parents" glory that every director dreams of when shooting a father-boyfriend battle.
Cranston and Franco are undoubtably terrific at what they do but I feel both actors have come so far it doesn't feel right watching them "Goof" in a movie this outrageous.
The movie flows along and when it's over you will forget it instantly but not dislike it.
Charming in places that make you want to watch it to the end but I think overall is down to the experience of Cranston keeping you awake.
Keegan-Michael Key is by far the highlight of this near car crash film which luckily for the two feature actors probably saved them enough and will allow them to move on uninjured.
