A bit of a let down. I am really getting tired of seeing the same old boring black stereotypes on screen. Don't get me wrong, everything has its place.......as long as its funny (well maybe not everything).
This was a little bit too over the top for my liking. Do people like this really exist? To be fair to Tyler Perry, he is at least making an effort to address subject matters which are clearly close to his heart and people still want to see.
Can't blame a guy for trying. The original was better, maybe in an effort to improve on it he went a bit crazy. Tasha Smith in particular made me think OMG give this woman a sedative (but I laughed).
On the romantic side, nothing seemed to gel, a lot of the chemistry seemed off (Michael Jai White for me being the worst culprit). There is one really cringeworthy scene with Louis Gossett junior and Cicely Tyson talking about how they fell in love to the other couples.
I did feel somewhat shortchanged.
