Review of Why Did I Get Married? (2007) by Hilary D — 20 Jun 2010
There are a lot of laughs here (thanks mostly to Tasha Smith's brazen character) but ultimately the movie's plot points are wrapped up too neatly towards the end, and don't have enough emotional resonance for it to really matter. It is exceedingly difficult to make a strong movie with an ensemble cast, and Perry's struggles are certainly visible. He certainly gives each couple enough to work with, but the time does not allow them to fully develop the relationships and conflict organically.
There are a few nice moments, but some of the acting is stiff and uncomfortable-looking.
