This is a review of the movie; I have not seen the play.
This movie has got to be Tyler Perry at his best. I laughed so hard throughout the movie; it's just really really funny... one of the funniest most over dramatic drama's I've seen in quite awhile If you are not a fan of Tyler Perry, then it's a hit or miss whether you can enjoy it, but if you are familiar with his work and like it, this is the movie for you.
