Review of Why Did I Get Married? (2007) by Darryl J — 12 Oct 2007
I had no intention of seeing this movie...ever...it simply isn't a formula I'm interested in and I didn't want to invest my time. I accidentally got to the theatre an hour early and thought I'd sit in on a movie I wouldn't mind leaving when it was time for Michael Clayton to start. By the time the other movie was going to start I ended up so vested in the characters I couldn't tear myself away because I wanted to know how everything turned out for all of them.
Perhaps that mind set is the proper one to have prior to seeing it since the reviews here aren't stellar. I found it to be one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen all year. It was laugh-out-loud funny, touching, sad...it was just an all around enjoyable movie. Perhaps my enjoyment had something to do with the audience enjoying it so much. People cheered, laughed, cried and clapped (several times). It was just an all around good flick. Not really deep, not really sad, not really far fetched and not life altering. Just a good way to spend a couple of hours.
