Review of Why Did I Get Married? (2007) by Anders K — 01 Feb 2010
Look I originally no desire to see any of Tyler Perry's films. But after stumbling upon the first one I became a fan. I especially had no desire to see this entry as it was Madealess. Expectations were set low especially after experiencing the most mediocre of his films Daddy's Little Girls.
But I have to say I was blown away by the dramatic intensity that flows through out this film. Which I consider to be almost as good as The family that prey's Tyler Perry's crowning jewel. The film centers on a group of couples away on a retreat that faceup to the secrets they all keep from their spouses.
Sure the film is a little preachy and melodramatic at times. But it's all delivered with pizazz unseen in films like this. The charachters arew ell developed and the performances are good. And the film opens up more and more as it grows from one powerful scene to the next.
You will laugh, cry, cheer and be satisfied with this surprisngly great movie.
