Review of Who's That Knocking at My Door (1968) by Igor Y — 29 Apr 2008
I think this was a great experiment, and a great film debut for martin scorsese.
Clearly influenced by the john wayne pictures of the 50s and the Godards of the early 60s, scorsese molds together an interesting little film that feels like a second rate "mean streets" because of all the obvious similarities.
There's so much cool music, great lines, keitel gave a good performance, and that dream sequence was something I've never seen before, so kudos to marty for that.
Lastly, I'd like to recommend this movie to pretty much every young aspiring filmmaker out there. because this is what a great debut should be.
