Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Cody G — 21 Jan 2008
Probably the most visceral movie regarding the failings and destruction of a marriage... On the whole, it sounds ultimately depressing, but it does impart senses of humor (drunken and otherwise). However, this is not light-entertainment, and the realism is quite stark- a true milestone both in terms of literary and film-making (it broke the language barrier, as far as profanity is concerned).
George and Martha are the ultimate 'neo-couple,' as I'm sure many couples today can relate to some of their problems (though they are the cause of each other's misery). The imaginary child scenario is also quite painful, as well...
ENJOY, you won't regret it!!
