Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Joel K — 01 Oct 2009
Lost out on best picture to a man for all seasons. taylor did win best actress for her role though. she is incredible in the film. great dialogue. very gritty and grimy. violence literal and psychological.
reminds me somewhat of long day's journey into night-- very dark and noire and tons of drinking and barbed repartee. From the Albee play. Won in the last year there was an academy category for best black and white cinematography.
Sandy Dennis won best supporting actress. Excellent film. Best I've seen in a long time.
