Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Calvin C — 26 Aug 2010
Raw, brutal, harrowing. Had I seen it in a theatre I would have walked out totally blown away - it loses just a tiny bit on the small screen. Burton and Dennis were brilliant and Taylor established herself as a serious actress in this (Segal was overshadowed by the three of them.
) Mike Nichols knocked it out of the park - he showed real cojones in taking on Taylor, Burton and Albee in his first directorial effort. Killer cinematography by Haskell Wexler.
