Review of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966) by Sean C — 30 Jan 2012
An acting tour de force, for certain, from Taylor and Burton but the movie itself is a lot like watching a 2 hour train wreck with an ending that modern audiences will see as not only predictable, but inevitable.
Nevertheless, this should be mandatory viewing for the lead performances alone and the play's writing snaps and appalls from start to finish, with language that both captivates and offends while always expertly framing the awkwardness that defines the story.
