These days, we seem to get a lot of live-action/animation hybrid films - from Scooby Doo to the Smurfs to the announced Sonic the Hedgehog series. And the track record hasn't been terribly good, with more flops than hits. But the reason they keep getting made can be put down to how incredibly entertaining "Roger Rabbit" is.

An early directorial effort by the master of visual effects, Robert Zemeckis, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" is a crime caper set in the fictional Toontown, where Roger Rabbit is accused for killing a nightclub owner and goes on the run to clear his name.

Not content with just utilizing these groundbreaking effects, this movie also has lots of laughs, both witty and classic slapstick style appearances from classic cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Betty Boop and Dumbo.

Add in memorable performances from Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd, and this is a must-see for any movie fan.
