Review of Whitney (2018) by Lisa S — 07 Jul 2018
Wow........this doc made me smile and shed some tears. Remembering the powerful force of nature whitney had when someone put a mike in front of her. just a god given, natural talent. I think the most beautiful voice we've ever heard.
But then to see all the people around her who were very much enablers and kept their mouth shut in order to keep their bank accounts filled with money earned off of Whitney's talent. so much new info (possibly true, possibly untrue) that was brought to light in the doc.
I know we are all responsible for our own actions but what a person goes through in their childhood can be damaging to them for the rest of their life if no one gets help for that person. Sad that so many people were depending on her and she never had a safe place to go, other than Robyn.
Again, this Doc is a must see. I was overwhelmed by hearing all of the beautiful songs once again,.....wow the talent. but I was truly saddened at watching this woman self destruct in front of our eyes.
