Review of White Zombie (1932) by Heather L — 31 May 2008
Shot on a $50,000 budget on the sets of Dracula and Frankenstein, White Zombie remains one of the most underrated films of the Horror genre. Atmospheric shadows and eerie soundscapes create a seaside nightmare where Bella Lugosi and his walking-dead reign without objection until a love triangle and temptation bring his cliff-top castle both desperate conflict and murder.
Likely to be enjoyed most by serious horror fans and those willing to forgive some early talkie cinema flaws for the impact of its overall creepiness.
