Review of White Wedding (2009) by Nikhil M — 24 Apr 2011
Some familiar plot lines (road trip misadventures and romantic misunderstandings leading up to a wedding) but set in modern South Africa, making it distinctly different from most of what comes out of Hollywood.
The groom's trip to the wedding hits one obstacle after another, the bride struggles against her mother's determination to throw a traditional wedding rather than the "white wedding" she envisions, and her old boyfriend shows up to spice up the tension.
Racial tensions are acknowledged, but glossed over in superficial silliness. But as romantic comedies go, it doesn't fail to entertain; and I enjoyed the South African scenery.
