Review of White Palace (1990) by Brody M — 25 Aug 2009
Iâ??m not sure what I thought this film was going to be or be about, but I sure thought it was going to be more than just a melodrama about a yuppie lovinâ?? an old chick. But thatâ??s it. Widower James Spader runs into Susan Sarandon one night at a burger shack called White Palace and the two have a torrid affair that blossoms into genuine love.
There are lots of little moments I found fascinating. The Sex Sandwich. The not so fake psychic. And â??Thereâ??s no dust in her dust buster!!!!!!!â?? But the film never really goes anywhere new and I just donâ??t buy those early flirtations between Spader and Sarandon.
Meh. VF.
