Review of White Oleander (2002) by Robin P — 27 Jul 2009
The best thing about this movie is how well the actors fit the character descriptions in the novel. The performances are mainly good, but I got tired of Claire. Zellweger played the character perfectly, but such a pathetic and selfish character is harder to see than read about.
The relationship between Lohman and Fugit's characters is very real and not an epic melodramatic Titanic love, which is refreshing. This movie can be depressing, but it's captivating and made me think about my own life.
I also felt thankful for having the mother I do.
