I have always been a fan of this film. Rewatching it again recently, I was really taken aback by just how much fun it still is. The story is interesting, the dialogue is top notch and the basketball scenes are briskly played out and look terrific.
At the centre of this is Woody and Wesley. Quite why Wesley decided to take the action man route is beyond me. The guy is so much fun in this film. He is funny and charming, the guy shows real comedy chops. Then we have Woody. He is the most interesting part of this film, playing a self destructive hustler who just can't help himself. I love his work in this flick. Our duo share a nice chemistry and whilst they try to replicate it again in other flicks, they don't quite reach the heights that they do here.
Ron Shelton put together a nice looking film with very funny dialogue and classic put downs delivered by a top notch cast.
