Review of White Men Can't Jump (1992) by Mike L — 01 Aug 2009
Ron Shelton, hot off his Bull Durham script, comes up with this basketball hustler movie. Harrelson plays a former college basketball player hustling the courts of LA and banking on the stereo-type of white players who cant play. Snipes is a LA court legend and at first sees Harrelson as a sucker, but once he gets beat, sees him as a way to the top, or at least win a basketball tournament.
The film comes down to two parts; if Harrelson can dunk and voiding the stereo-type and is Harrelson's girlfriend, played by Rosie Perez, can get on Jeopardy, she does, she wins, and she leaves him.
