An exhausting portrait of the hubris of outsiders meddling in matters they do not understand. Huppert is customarily brilliant as a stubborn woman whose drive to succeed blinds her to the folly of her ambition, to the extent that it destroys everything around her.
Denis watches impassively as she misunderstands and misinterprets the actions and feelings of everyone she comes into contact with.
