Review of White Irish Drinkers (2011) by Alex S — 27 Mar 2011
Words cannot describe this near perfect film. The cast and crew seem to paint an effortless picture of life in 1975 Brooklyn as they tell the beautiful, heart tugging story of one young man's struggle to escape all he's ever known while battling with the moral issues of leaving his far from perfect, but loving family.
With stunning performances from EVERY SINGLE member of the cast, beautiful cinematography, and an even more beautifully written script - White Irish Drinkers may be one of the best films I've ever seen.
It's a film that is not only entertaining and emotionally taxing, it's a film that is the result of a loving and passionate cast and crew, it's a film that shows what filmmaking is about. It's a film that leaves you thinking, talking, and wanting to tell everyone you know about it.
If there were an early contender for the best picture race of 2011 - this would be it.
