Review of White House Down (2013) by Dcedmonds — 13 Nov 2014
"White House Down" 10 Scale Rating: 5.5 (Decent) ...
The Good: Foxx and Tatum were great together with the handful of scenes they had together. Tatum, as usual, was a charismatic lead. The cast is chock full of favorites: Richard Jenkins, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, and James Woods. They all turned in good performances despite a weak script.
The Bad: I can suspend belief for a film like this, but only so much. The film makes the U.S. government and it's employees out to be completely idiotic and it was far too easy to infiltrate and take over the White House. Once the action starts, the film becomes the usual action cliche. What comedy they did try and put into the film felt forced. The last 10 minutes or so made no sense and seemed to be crammed in.
