Yes, it's a Die Hard ripoff, and yes, it shares a similar plot to Olympus Has Fallen (which was a Die Hard ripoff too).
BUT if you like entertaining light-hearted action movies, you'll like this one.
And it's not worth comparing it to OHF because they're different in tone, while that film was dark, violent and serious, White House Down is more light-hearted and more likeable characters.
Channing Tatum makes quite a likeable action hero in this film, and Jamie Foxx isn't that bad as the President, just turn your brain off and enjoy 2 hours of action packed entertainment.
