Hands down one of the best Gangster films in the entire genre. People consider many of the modern gangster classics, The Godfather, Goodfellas, and Scarface, as what the genre is. But, James Cagney was one of the best actors of his time, and his intensity rivals that of any modern gangster.
The final scene is a cinema classic where Cody Jarrett goes out...on top of the world.
