Review of White Heat (1949) by Masorad ( — 08 Dec 2009
Cagney does incredible things with his face. The somewhat simian brow helps to elevate a sneer into the realm of the psychopathic, eyes cast upwards he's scheming or longing, straight-on with a smirk he's spitting in the devil's eye.
Equal parts gangster, heist, and prison film with a hearseload of violence and a going-out-with-a-bang for the ages.
