Review of White Heat (1949) by Ben C — 31 Aug 2009
As the highlight of his career, James Cagney provides a tour de force in his role as homicidal maniac Cody Jarrett. The brilliance of his performance is displayed in his frenetic, menacing demeanor and the use of brutality as a way of life.
The supporting cast does well, but this is Cagney's show and he doesn't disappoint. This is the essential gangster film and an excellent portrayal of a psychopath.
