Review of White Christmas (1954) by Scott P — 14 Dec 2008
White Christmas is a fine follow up to Holiday Inn. While I do prefer the first film, this newest installment that delivers many musical dance numbers. The story is shrinked to almost nothing this go around, but anyone who loves these films won't care.
They're entertaining fluff pieces! I will give props to the filmmakers setting it post WWII. It is a little dark for the light material. I like the attempt. What's missing is Fred Astare's dancing.
Again, I'm not a huge fan of the music. Bing Crosby still knows his stuff. The movie is a little too long. If you haven't seen this and enjoy films with great stories than skip it, but if you like large musical dance numbers without a story than you'll love it! Holiday Inn is better.
