Review of Whisper (2007) by David. B — 28 Feb 2008

Creepy evil kid flick. David, the boy in this is almost an exact replica of Damien from the Omen. He wears a suit and has the look, but dare I say he is creepier than Damien thanks to the distinct direction and evil words given to David. People have been comparing this to the Omen, but Whisper ended up having more originality in it than your straight up devil child killing people movie concept. This revolves around 4 jolly kidnappers who have just kidnapped a boy named David from a wealthy women, so that 2 of them can open up a diner together.lol(the other 2 just want to become un-broke), but unknown to them is the fact David is no ordinary kid, he is possibly a demon, or well a fallen angel, the devil(is what I gathered). Soon the kidnappers start dying one by one under mysterious circumstances and Max(played by that american dude with longish hair from the shit tv show Lost) begins to think if David is the key to all of the mysteriousness. I guess taking a devil to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere was not such a good idea? Yes, we have seen it all before, but Whisper still manages to be very entertaining.

There are some great scares and a fair bit of suspense that will send shivers down your spine. It's shot nicely with the snow covered landscapes being breathtakingly beautiful and has a cast who did a fine job(despite the mob used from shitty Lost, but I won't let that affect my opinion on the movie since Max is a well developed character and leads this film). Overall, Whisper is a very entertaining, chilling and well made atmospheric tale that is much better than the usual DTV flicks about a devil child.
