Review of Whisky Galore! (1949) by Tom M — 15 Sep 2007
Quality golden oldie of British cinema. One of the first and best films that I can remember seeing when I was 4 or 5yrs old. A funny tale of people from a scottish village on the Hebrides islands disobeying a home guard commander (whom it can be said Captain Mainwaring from Dad's Army was modeled on), and rowing across to a stranded ship to steal its contents of whiskey.
Good humoured, gentle comedy with an excellent cast.
