Review of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016) by Jon E — 02 Jun 2016
Tina Fey delivers a brilliant performance in this charming romance, documentary and comedy conglomeration. The feature gives an insight into life as a reporter in the Middle East during the war in Afghanistan in the mid to late 2000s.
The plot moves at a rather slow pace, but is generally entertaining and captivating. Martin Freeman compliments Fey extremely well, and was an excellent choice to nurture the comedic value of the film.
The plot line breaks form in the final half hour of what is otherwise a brilliantly earthed and un-cliched experience, but this does not subtract from the film's overall feel. Women's rights are also raised in a subliminal manner, something of which Fey deserves praise for.
