Review of Whiplash (2014) by Gaspar O — 07 Jul 2015
This film is just OK, IMNSHO. However, J.K. Simmons turned in a brilliant performance. I've only seen one of the other Supporting Actor performances so far from this year's Oscars, but this one was definitely deserving of its nomination.
I never know, sometimes, what 'The Academy' is looking at when they toss out the all too often nomination for utter dreck, Beasts of the Southern Wild comes to mind, but I can only assume this was nominated for Best Picture based mostly on that performance.
It is entertaining though, objective one achieved.
