One of the best things about January in the UK is that we get a lot of the movies that came out in December or November of the previous years. Whiplash was one of them and now having seen the film I can honestly say I get the hype.

This film is one of the most intense movies of the year I would even go and say this is one of the best of the decade. Whiplash is a film that does brilliantly on just about everything. The performances are just amazing.

Miles Teller is so good, he's so like able and just really sells his character. He's a fantastic actor who's great in everything but this is his stand out role. However even though Miles Teller is brilliant he's outshined by J.

K. Simmons. Except for Spider-Man I honestly haven't seen him in much, he was so brilliant in this movie. He was scary, funny and felt more like an angry drill instructor than a teacher. He plays the character of fletcher so well and he 100% deserves his Oscar.

The character of Fletcher is one of the best characters ever put to film. We really see how seriously this guy takes his job by the way he berates and then kicks out one of his students for thinking he is out of tune.

Or the way he walks into the classroom and we see the looks of fear on the students faces. The character of Terrence Fletcher is one of the most intense and down right terrifying characters put to film and so much of that comes from Simmons outstanding performance.

Whiplash is also amazingly directed, I don't think I have seen anything else from Damian Chazelle but he's directed this film fantastically and I can't wait to see what he does next. One of Whiplash's strongest aspects is the amazing writing.

The script for this film is brilliant, all of the lines feel very natural and some of the lines Simmons has are so creative. The editing is amazing. Every transition or cut feels flawless. The way the drumming scenes are edited are too amazing to describe.

The cinematography is also fantastic there is this one dizzying shot when Miles Teller is drumming that is just brilliant. This film is also ridiculously tense, whenever we get scenes of Teller drumming with the band and Simmons watching it's very intense as you get the feeling he could snap at any minute.

The scenes where Teller practices on his own are so intense as we see that he is pushing himself so much, covering the drum in blood and sweat it can be very hard to watch but I couldn't stop watching.

This film also has an amazing ending, it is ridiculously intense and Teller shines in this portion. If I had any complaints there was a 5-10 minute but in the film where it's just Teller and there is no Simmons or drumming.

It slows down what is a very fast paced film. However the scenes are good they just aren't as great as the rest of the film. Whiplash is a ridiculously tense movie that will have you on the edge of your seat.

It has amazing acting, directing, editing, cinematography, sound mixing, music it's just a fantastic film and I'm so glad that I saw it. It's one of the best movies of 2015 and a film we will still be talking about years later.
