Review of Whiplash (2014) by Kent D — 31 Aug 2015
JK Simmons has always been a stellar actor, but never has he been better than in this Oscar-winning (finally!) role as an abusive band leader driving an excellent Miles Teller to extremes. I'd give it more stars if Teller's character's arc didn't feel so rushed, but the amazing music, glorious editing, and outstanding performances by the two leads win out.
